Media Center Mission Statement
The mission of the media center is to build bridges to knowledge, create collaborative partnerships and inspire a passion for reading in all of its patrons.



Media Center Philosophy
The media center will be open to all members of the learning community and will allow for the development of students to reach their full potential as learners and citizens.  The media center will support all areas of the curriculum, facilitate the use of technology, provide a foundation of lifelong learning and foster a love of reading.  The media center is open to all students regardless of age, race or ability.  The media center is open everyday during school hours.  The media center allows for book checkout,  research and group lessons all to occur simultaneously.  Students' needs should be met throughout every school day in a variety of ways. Flexible scheduling allows students and teachers to utilize the media services when it fits their needs.  The media center will also promote ethical behavior among staff, students and the community.  The responsiblities of the media specialist are to be a teacher, instructional partner, information specialist and program administrator.  As a teacher, the media specialist will collaborate with students to analyze and meet their needs.  As an instructional partner, the media specialist will collaborate with teachers to develop programs that will enrich the curriculum. As an information specialist, the media specialist will connect students and teachers to a variety of resources. As program administrator, the media specialist works with the entire learning community to create learning objectives and programs that meet their individual and group needs. This includes managing staff, materials, equipment and facilities that support the library's mission.
