| School library media candidates
administer the library media program in order to support the mission of
the school, and according to the principles of best practice in library
science and program administration. |
| Project:
Order (Objective, List, Rationale,
Process Checklist) The selection, ordering and processing of materials chosen based upon the goals, objectives and needs of the school population and the school library media program. I felt this assignment would be one that I will find to be extremely relevant once in a media position. Follett certainly makes completing the process somewhat easier. I realize not all school systems utilize Follett collection management software so if I were to do this assignment again I would probably try to utilize several other avenues for accessing items for inclusion as Follett almost does the work for you and I might need to know how to complete this process without Follett at some point in time. |

PDEP The program development and evaluation plan is an instrument utilized to help the media specialist focus on the needs of the media center. An effective plan covers the management policies, procedures and principles of the media center as well as builds upon ALA and AASL standards. My PDEP was created in collaboration with three other classmates and was a based upon a mixture of real and theoretical school settings. I was very pleased with how the end product turned out but would probably work with fewer group members if I were to do the assignment again so that I got a more detailed involvement with all of the sections of the plan. |
